Good idea, bad idea

Let's start with the good. Taking 2 weeks off from racing to get some solid training blocks in, it was definately a good idea. I've been doing a ton of road riding and some core workouts at the gym and working on my mtb in between. I laced a new rim to my 24o DT hub. She's true and good to go. And I now have an exact same spare wheelset except that the rear hub is a 340, same insides but less machined on the outside so a tad heavier. Good enough for a spare wheelset though, and the front hubs are both 240's. I decided to stick with the Ron's for rubber, looking back at my flats I've had and they would've puntured pretty much any tire so I'm giving them another chance. I love how I can run them in dry conditions and they roll fast, and in wet/muddy conditions they still grab. They are seem to hook up on corners super well, so other then them being super fast at wearing out I still think its an amazing tire. All I need now is my chainring to come in, so let's hope Canada Post goes back to work soon so I can start riding the mtb.

I'm pretty bummed about missing the Albion O cup, and a little bummed about missing the last L2L. Either way it was still a good idea as racing them would've ended up me only having half an engine and getting a sub par result, that's if I could somehow ever get my mtb to work.

This past week ive been doing some Z4 hill work and a lot of z3 stuff into the wind and up every roller. I have thrown some Tabata intervals into my week as well as those always help the top end. On the weekend I headed out for 3 hrs on Saturday for a short ride with some sprints. Most of the ride ended up being in z3 thanks to a solid headwind. Sunday I did 5hrs and 8 or 9 hills repeats up Sydenham, I lost count halfway so not sure if it was 8 or 9. The climbs felt much better then last week and I did my 3rd and 8th climb standing the whole time and the legs surprisingly took it ok. The whole way home was into a strong headwind, almost didn't make it, but somehow dizzily zigzagged into my driveway.

I headed to Amanda's house in the evening for a Fathers day dinner, and this is where the bad idea comes in. After dinner Dan announced it was time for a fathers day post dinner bike ride. I was tired and my legs were fried, but a nice leasurely ride around the neighborhood sounded good. Sort of forgot that the Schottlander's are a super active family and a post dinner bike ride for them means more then around the neighborhood! they all got on their bikes spandex and clipins ready. I was scared that they'd try and go for some townline sprints. The pace was a nice comfortable one that probably helped my legs recover. The issue was my butt. After the 5 hour day in the saddle, sitting on a bike in jeans hurts...a lot. All in all fun ride and it was great to get out with them all, and a good way to end the weekend.

Off to do an easy road ride then gym for a core workout.
